TECHNICAL ASPECTS
MAINTAINING THE MOVEMENT ON YOUR WATCH
Thanks to its automatic mechanism, your watch is capable of working for thousands of hours in a
row. Consequently, the movement of your watch requires very special attention.
The principle behind an automatic watch lies in the fact that the energy necessary for its smooth
operation is provided by the movements of your wrist. As such, the ideal solution involves wearing
it every day. If you leave it to one side for too long, it is possible that it will stop. In this instance,
we advise you to wind the crown upwards about twenty times. In this way, good amplitude in the
movement of your watch will improve its accuracy.
If you’ve noticed that your watch suddenly gains or loses time, it may be magnetized. Nevertheless,
this is nothing serious. In our modern world, magnetic fields are ubiquitous: close to electronic
devices, electrical appliances, magnets… There is a very simple way to check whether your watch
is magnetized. Place it next to a compass; if the hand turns, this means your watch needs to be
demagnetized. In this case, wear it when visiting your watchmaker, who will quickly be able to
resolve the issue with a demagnetizing machine.
