A unique interpretation of time
Liberté offers a very unique display of time
The hours appear at the center of the dial, on the crown representing the time zones of the world’s
major capital cities. The ratchet wheel, the color of steel, indicates the precise time by lining itself
up at the tip of each time zone. For example, in the photograph opposite, it is 11:00am in Paris,
whilst in New York, it is 05:00am.
Meantime, the minutes are displayed across the large bluish arc at the top of the dial. These are
ticked off by the large black hand, each golden mark on the arc corresponding with 10 minutes.
The indication of the minutes on the lower section of the dial (from 20 to 40 minutes), is reported
on the central semi-circle. In this way, if we refer to the photograph in France, it is 11:05am.
Finally, the seconds appear at the center of the dial, in the silvery semi-circle, just above the
ratchet wheel for the hours. They are indicated by a small, blue hand.
