THE LIBERTÉ WATCH
An object that forges links
Between nations
Many are oblivious to the fact that it’s thanks to the generosity of thousands of French
and American citizens that the Statue of Liberty saw the light of day. Built without the
assistance of any government funding, this universal work is quite simply the result of
the first example of crowdfunding in History.
The sum invested, which was colossal for the time, was then shared out fairly on each
side of the Atlantic, the French funding the statue and the Americans taking care of the
construction of its base.
With the aim of carrying on this link uniting the nations, fifty copies of Liberté have
been produced, divided up into two series of twenty-five watches. The first half of the
collection is destined for France, whilst the second is aimed at the rest of the World*.
At two distinct points of the globe, there will be two alter egos, united by an imperceptible
link and sharing a common history: that of an extraordinary epic by the name of Liberté.
*Each piece is numbered 1 to 25, followed by the letter F for “France” and W for “World”
