Saint Elme’s fire
A symbol of luck
An insignia for good luck blends into the design of the Liberté watch. Finely engraved on an insert
with navy hues, this symbol represents two stars above the mast of a ship: Saint Elme’s fire.
Several accounts tell of how, on certain stormy nights, sailors could make out stars twinkling at
the top of their boat’s masts. Their appearance is attributed to Saint Elme, patron saint of sailors.
Legend has it that when two of these blazing stars appear, viewing them heralded great things.
These two beams of light embodied Dioscuri then, the divine twins of Antiquity and gods of the
seas.
As such, Liberté is a lot more than a simple watch design. It is designed to accompany its owner
with benevolence, before being handed down to future generations…
